So to answer some of my own and others' earlier questions and ramble a bit:
1. There is no latch, but if you sequence an arp, hold down the notes you want, and play with the seq division setting, you can get a sustained arp. If it is set to random, than you get a different assortment of notes every time the sequence plays through (satisfies my needs). Interestingly you can motion sequence the arp type, so you could have chords on some steps and arps on others. Very cool.
2. Portamento is polyphonic and its pretty crazy. I can't tell by ear if its log, lin etc. I'll record some in my demo.
3. Filter is def not MS20 style. It is pretty liquidy and can do pretty convincing SH101 style acid. Not tons of bite, but I like it. It definitely loses low end like crazy when you turn the res up. But so does my Ripples. Tracks decently in 4 pole, less so in 2.
4. Noise. So the synth itself isn't very noisy at all to my ears. I would say it is significantly less noisy than the MS20 for example. People who are very sensitive to such things may have a different opinion though. The delay on the other hand is very noisy with long delays and high feedback. Similar to a BBD in that respect. It's definitely useful to have and the fact that you can motion sequence it is neat. I wish they had made it possible to route it pre-lowpass filter or put a low cut knob on it or something.
5. Crossmod should be labeled Osc FM.
6. I wish you could do FM or Ring mod between voices and not just between the two oscs within each voice.
7. The sequencer is intuitive and easy to work with. So is editing/loading/saving presets. There is a button combo (shift+play) which gives you "what you see is what you get" that I will probably be using very often. Nice way to get a blank slate.
8. I am not a mini key hater, but I have never had an analog poly before. I can kind of understand where the hater players are coming from. Some of it will just take getting used to. It's definitely playable, just not ideal.
9. I think the 37 keys was the right idea. With only 4 voices, the voice stealing means its best not to get greedy. Every time I start trying to play it like it has unlimited polyphony I have to take a step back and think about what I am doing. Part of this just takes getting used to I'm sure.
10. LFO goes into audiorate. Not as fast as I'd like (and I wish it could keytrack) but I'm spoiled by modular. Definitely useful for some weirder sounds. Also gets decently slow. There is a setting in the menu to have the LFO synced per voice, which leads me to suspect that there are 4 LFOs that all share the same rate and shape, but not necessarily the same phase? In any event, for the stuff I was patching I found it sounded better to set them to be independent.
I've been so lost in the minilogue itself I haven't had time to test the audio in. I'll report back when I do and try to work on a vid when I get the chance.
