Re: Moog Sub 37 Tribute?
Editor:
Hello all, and happy Friday / happy October!
We are very close to a release of the Sub 37 Editor. Here is a new build containing the latest changes.
For Mac:

For Windows:

The main functional changes are as follows:
- Entire UI can be resized for smaller screens; just click a corner of the window and drag to resize.
[When using the plugin version in Logic, you need to click the corner of the “inner” window frame surrounding the plugin, as Logic puts its own “outer” frame around the whole plugin UI which does not resize in the same way]
- Bottom section of the UI “folds up” to save screen space when not needed; click the up-arrow tab in the bottom-center of the UI to fold/unfold.
- Some small changes to text labels and UI combo boxes (SEQUENCER section is now labeled ARP/SEQUENCER; Sequencer param values now have “spinner” controls, click to increment or decrement values)
- Also fixed a crash related to closing/opening the plugin quickly.
Additional info:
After much testing we have concluded that the “effect” version of the plugin is far superior in use to the “virtual instrument” version. The best way to set it up is to use your DAW’s built-in External Instrument device on a track, and then put the Sub 37 Editor plugin as an “effect” on the same track. This gives you native control of the MIDI and audio to/from the Sub 37 hardware, and then editor control for parameter automation and preset changes on the same DAW track. The final release package will contain only the effect version of the plugin; the virtual-instrument version will not be included. If you feel strongly that this is a bad decision, please let me know. Otherwise:
Here is a brief tutorial describing this setup within Logic Pro X; for other DAWS, the basic concepts are the same and only the moves to set it up within the DAW will differ.
Windows users: It is still the case that you can’t use the Sub 37 USB for both your DAW and the editor plugin at the same time, without a special USB driver. I’m still working on the firmware update that will allow full compatibility with Moog’s custom USB MIDI driver for windows. When that effort is done, this problem will be resolved. Until then, my recommendation is to use a standard DIN MIDI interface in addition to USB MIDI; use the USB MIDI for your DAW and select the standard MIDI interface as your input/output device within the Sub 37 Editor plugin. This will allow full communication between both the DAW and the editor, and the Sub 37.
If any questions about installation or usage, please send me an email.
Kind regards,
Amos
