quite hard sounding drums based on samples.. 32 drumsamples, dynamic pads. the sp12 had 1,2 sec sample ram - with expansion 2.5secs (x2) - the Commodore disc drive 1541 can be used to save and load sounds! but it is slow (300byte/sec) the sp1200 had 4x 2.5secs. and has an internal disc drive but no buffering of sounds in a flash ram anymore like the sp12 has.

(plus 3 mono-melodies). has 3 voice polyphony but you can program every step, so you can get an impression of having 16 different snares or bassdrums! one of the best features on the xbase 09 (german info/deutsche info zur JOMOX Xbase 09 und airbase 99 hier). the sampled stuff (hihats and some typical stuff) can only played by ONE instrument at the same time! so this is a monophonic "sampler".. dr.walker and some others did a special edition with airbase board inside with some individual samples inside.. well.. you can hear the hihats, but if you want to programm one of the other samples it is possible but not really priority on this machine.. but for the analog sound source: this is the best tr909 replacement one can get right now. airbase (the rack) and xbase audio here more..

The original had more physical modeling and synth programs, the new Wavedrum X has more sample based programms and some additions. there are about 70 sensors, so you can touch and stroke it, also the sides can trigger different sounds as well and some notches at the sides allow special playing with drumsticks. it has a very large range of dynamics. quite unusual.
