hi there, well that looks very interesting:
hi there, well that looks very interesting:
do you have some more info about it..
- the matrix look primising, but the "spiral"? hmm, maybe it is more a design thing.. I could not really imagine circular GUI knobs to be of help for better overview.. but it looks cool..
- you need / want some input? you are right at the right place..
I did some things that I find necessary for a Sequencer to work herE:
(below!!!) I listed some things you might find usefull..
it's just me, but I have an older thread on the old board which contains some more it is in german ,so you might not find it ..
it was "the perfect Sequencer" thread in the old forum and some more.. peter (klangraum) is also looking for a nice concept see DIY.
I would prefer some new specs today after so many concepts I need to rewrite it some day.
well, how about pushing this to the english section and try to bring together // stuff developed over time and why not re-thinking the concept..
I do a lot of live performance, others prefer the studio work, imho most studio ppl do simply use the old schoolish software (to me it appears sort of oldish, espacial controlling things or automate things..) imo the best Sequencer is the one that is intuitive, easy to check your music visually .. so the screen of a computer isn't bad..
I found the TR-type Sequencer of the Korg Electribes is very close but there are some things to do:
1) pitches and gate time
2) velocties (no accent only, full range!!)
3) controllers and what is controlled ..
4) rolls and automated and shuffled events ..
imo a bigger interface is cool as long as you can carry it.. you do not necessarly need loooongish displays but they do help, later I got the idea it is better to keep just the TR steps and add a bar counter up to 99 or something and have another display to show the notes maybe a piano display or some LEDS that can be seen and simply read compared to matrix pads and multiple lines - or it is 12 lines of pads so you can see 1 octave at a time (less is strange) but you need to add some display to show where you are and where the notes are (above/below and how many).
- how about combining the TR-type and the "arrangement windows" of modern soft Sequencers (Reason but with 8 or more measures)?
- maybe you could use LED or other displays to show the status and notes..
- why? the problem with TR is: it is made for triggering and not for pitch view..
- maybe include colours (not too many!!) for octave shift
- and displays that show the notes.. possibly this is one step closer..
- and why not showing the notes as a "piano roll" with LEDs (one or better 2 octaves in range , changing will change the color of the LEDs,
- why? you can show chords..
- not so cool ,still: if you play the chords more arper like!!
you still have to press the step key to show the notes. it's also something to think of..
hey, will you be in frankfurt, music fair? maybe we can meet and talk??..
so it's finally a commercial / available product?
Yes.
good to see: the tracks seem to be independent.. but some things have to be more clear.. what steps to take to get xxx..
sounds good for a short check. we should talk sooner or later (we did! so my hands where on both octopus and nemo)
ok, looks very much like a multiple TR-type of sequencing
ok, looks very much like a multiple TR-type Sequencing with display of note on the right? 128 Steps Octopus, 64 Steps Nemo.
quite large.. well, it's not made for live (or for those with big cars) *g* but very cool. reminds of the Notron a bit.
- the mysterious circle as a display for pitches of the notes? and/or levels of controllers??
- how about ratchet/rolls and ending of the notes (length/gate)?
- one question: realtime recording? does it work on it, too?
- very interested in closer look and real handling infos..
especially how the handling is really like.. the 1k3Euro price looks ok for that thing if it does what I assume.. 32midi channels ans lots more than 10xXXX tracks? not bad..
- all melodic or some rhythmic only?..
it's melodiy also, I see.
(yes, I already have the pdf and I also looked at the last page.very promissing.)
same for poly stuff and melodic in general..
im will be in frankfurt for the vintage synth day, maybe you are there, too?
