i have a touchscreen and its just my second monitor but with a touchscreen, so i can just ´drop´it any window and manipulate any fader.
working on my DAW its an absolute pleasure!, on my main 22´monitor I look at the arrangement, below in a 30º to 60º angle its this touchmonitor with the Mixer window, its damm easy to acces any parameter you want to control (not things really small but...),
I gotta tell you the truth -- I feel like touching my brain--, its damm good to work with it,
My workflow its like, as i like to program my synths, I just let the pluggIn window on the touchscreen and play on my midi keyboard, again, its damm good, you dont have to assing anything!, wich its the biggest problem with any external control for good any it would be,
My experiences with it are really greatfull, I´ve tried on most all of the currents DAWs, Logic, Cubase, Sonar, ProTools, Reaper, Ableton,
all of them work good with it, the only one wich i found annoying to work with was Sonnar, as the faders from the mixer moved really weird each time i tried to accesed to it.
Logic its damm good to work with, i can load pluggIns, assing the sends, turn the pans, faders reacts good with the finger touch.
also working with pluggins with stunning GUIs as Zebra, FabFilter, PSP are also really damm good LOL, you just drop it the pluggIn window to the touchscreen and its ready to tweak.
I havent had any problems with it getting dirty, you just clean it normally, dont touch it with your hands dirty and you´ll be fine.
I really recomend those for any studio environment those stuff its the future!
JazzMutant its a very good example and it could be consider as the first DAW but the thing is that it has its own software, so you have to program it first to have access to what you need, not the same happens with a TouchSreenMONITOR, thats a difference, the multitouch support its an awesome feature of most of the new ones, but they are damm expensive as well.
