Der Moog Muse hat 2 sehr schnelle LFOs und einen VCO der als Oszillator oder LFO nutzbar ist, er kann Filter FM und OSC FM und ist damit schon Moog-typisch, denn dort sind schnelle Modulationen schon länger möglich - es gibt 2 Filter, einer davon kann als HPF dienen - ansonsten sind das einfach 2 Standard Tiefpässe.
2x ADSR, 2x LFO mit 1kHz Tempo
Besonderer Arpeggiator und Sequencer mit 16 Steps mit interessanten Live-Features und Chord Modes.
16x Modmatrix und weiterer eigener LFO für reine Pitchmodulation.
Bitimbral und Pan gibt es auch.

Es gab Bilder bei Andrew Huang zu einem neuen Moog namens Muse - aber er ist am Ende ein echter und sehr vollständiger polyphoner Synth ohne spezielle Kompromisse aber mit 8 Stimmen.
Er ist kein Moog One in der Art und Weise, aber man könnte ihn als kleinere einfache lüfterlose Variante bezeichnen, dennoch ist es ein eigenständiges Gerät mit viel weniger Gewicht und Aufwand.

2 Timbres, 16-Step Konzept, Arpeggiator, Chord Memory mit
2 VCOs und 1 MOD OSC ( mit mind 1000Hz als LFO und auch als FM Quelle nutzbar), polyphon,
also ein Moog Two - bezahlbarer aber auch einfacher mit klarer Struktur und "Slim Phatty" und Retro-Optik (also Elementen bekannter Moogs).
Jetzt bei inMusic wird das sicher alles anders laufen als bisher. Aber dieser hier ist noch im alten Lager entstanden und wird gebaut, die erste Charge ist verkauft. Man wartet jetzt auf den 2. Schub. Also sage ich- er ist der erste bezahlbare Moog mit Polyphonie für das Volk, er hat Aftertouch, er hat eine Struktur mit 2 Timbres und Sequencer und eben 2-3 Oszillatoren (je nach Nutzung des MOD OSC) faktisch als kleiner Bruder des One.

Die Seitenteile sehen ein bisschen nach "Roland" Form aus - mit der Abwinkelung, es ist aber der neue Moog Muse (vorher Mirror als Arbeitsname nach Leaks).

Auf Gearslutz hat sich noch eigener Aussage ein Beta-Tester Names blougui zum Mirror ausgekotzt:

Cannot say I was a fan of some of the Matriarch rehashing of the GUi. But this new instrument was the promess kept of a vintage vibey polysynth with some minimal preset mgmt. Seemed to be.
And as a beta tester I was more than delighted to get my hands and ears on a new era Moog *

I don’t like to say it, it’s like shooting a dead horse, but Oh man, was I disappointed. The core osc sound was weirdly weak (triangle core based VCOs. ) The whole lot of them came out untuned, like they were battling each others for center stage. At least they started to behave after the tuning procedure (c’mon InMusic guys, answer the f… phone when one of your beta tester is trying to get some important not to say sensitive info !)

If I was not so biaised I would have said they were Timbre Wolf inspired, but that’s too an easy criticism, init ?

OSCs
When testing a new instrument, I get my fingers off the filter for a while to have a proper experience of the envelops first. But the filter was already there, taming the asthmatic voice of the VCOs. I plugged my oscillocope to catch a clear view on what was happening with the pulse - the worst offender, here. The image was so imbued with despair I won’t show it on this forum.


VCA-ENV
Now the envelops, as I said. They were off. Clicky for the first 10% of the Attack then astonishingly wheezy. Like some worker walking toward his obnoxious foreman knowing he’ld get fired anyway. Decay was behaving the other way. Release ? A liberation. Voice allocation like a kindergarten line up under a stormy rain.

I had to move on.

FILTAZ
Let’s try the filter, the filters, one laddery, the other State Variable. Series and/or parallele. Well, so called states were : Inefficient, Temperamental (at least starting with the resonance at around 46,7%) and bland. Ladder was buttery, as usual for more than 50 years : a granny peacefully knitting her widow shawl away. Some harmonics appeared when hitting the VCOs harder into the filter, in a untammed and mostly unpleasant way.

And that’s when the fans entered stage…

CONCLUSION
Well, at least I don’t have to ask for a refound and it took me 2 days to deliver the most detailed and honnest debriefing I could spit out ; but as you geet the idea from now on, there’s still a lot of work on that Mirror for it to reflect more than rushed mediocrity with dubious colors.
I didn’t have time to get into the modular i/o and wasn’t asked for, anyway.
A friend of mine working for a InMusic subcontractor told me something about Moog’s silence following the infamous Huang-o-Bowl marketing stunt, like they better get their shyte together before going any further.

As I consider myself a good chap, I wish them luck. But one bit of advice I shared with them : forget about branding the Mirror a Moog product.

*partly new : some of the pre-debacle union’s engineers were involved. It’s said some are seeking position in the arena-big events lighting industry.

Ich wäre skeptisch, da Betatester normalerweise einem strengen NDA unterliegen; und es liest sich eher wie der Rant eines enttäuschten Fans.
Und falls doch - welche Aussagekraft hätte ein Betatest eines noch nicht vollständig implementierten und finalisierten Geräts?

Für mich liest sich das schon sehr detailliert. Könnte echt sein...
 
Ja es sind einiges Infos dabei die auf ein gewissen Insiderwissen hindeuten. Zwei Filter, seriell oder parallel, und ggf. sogar ein (noch nicht implementierter) Resonatorfilter oder so etwas ähnliches. Könnte ein interessantes Gerät werden wenn das stimmt und sie die Probleme noch ausmerzen können.

Aber bei so einer Suada würde ich mal eher abwarten ...

Nun gut. Irgendwie dann doch klar. Der thread hat ja was Inhalt benötigt.
 
Moog hat ein neues Video über die Musiker der Super Bowl Halftime Show online, bei dem man den neuen Synth im Hintergrund mehrmals kurz sehen, dann aber auch etwas näher sehen (und kurz hören) kann, ich hab mal die Sprungmarke zur Stelle gesetzt, denn den Rest des Blabla-Videos muß man sich nicht unbedingt antun:



Der gespielte Sound ist jetzt nix Besonderes, klingt aber recht fett.
 
Ob´s den Synth wohl im Set mit dm Louis Vuitton Tracksuit gibt? Nächste InMusic Coop? Beim Einzelkauf dürfte wohl beides in der 4k+ Klasse liegen ...

Sollte ja bald draussen sein. Sequential hat schon mal vorsichtshalber die Preise beim Prophet gesenkt. Das kommt ja nicht von ungefähr....
