Thank you very much for your welcome
as well as for telling me that it's okay to post in English.
well, i also build my modules in Wood, but i also must say your ones are not the nicest ones, but very very "individual"
but as fonik sayd:
"es atmet den Geist des DIY "
I'd wanted to build modules in wood, since my last modular synth in the early 1990s. (There's a photo of my original one, in the 'Other' link, off of my main webpage.) I never did build that first module in wood then, though.
Do you have any photos of your modular, with wood panels online anywhere? I've never seen anyone else's synth built in wood. I would LOVE to see that!
to see a System where you "see" functionality within the first view, makes any System anyway very nice for my sense.
And to see that it is someones own work also.
It's an very important Factor for me,and in contrary to those who build their owns, but want that one can see that it is DIY
I have always preferred, to have the knobs/switches/LEDs, away from the jacks, to keep things more organized. In the earliest days of my first modular (about 1992), I found all of the cabling, got in the way of the knobs.
I didn't like that and started building new panels, separating everything. (1995). I've done it like that, ever since.
I'm still VERY new in working with wood, and there's a lot of learning for me to do still.
The look of the machine will improve over the years though, as I get better with my wood working skills.
I also do NOT provide pictures of the PCBs in the back, as most of them (right now) are made by hand and are VERY ugly.
Though - I DO make all of my wiring from PCB to panel, very neat, with cable ties / etc.
Finally,i give a shit to optics on one side, on the other i'd wish also to have a nice one,
but when patching, only functionality counts. F U N C T I O N A L I T Y
but its sayd, some People have their Modulars just to represent
and to be honest:
my System is allways patched up fully, and that way it anyway looks not nice.
And:i don't look to it anymore.I have it, and i patch it up, or i do not.
Thats it !
@ Pappnase
That's part of why, I decided to draw pictures on all of my knobs, as well as make the colours of the jacks (and most of) and the knobs, colour coded, related to each other. I have also done the same thing with my patch cords and plugs.
Purple = Audio In
Orange = Audio Out
Blue = CV In
Yellow = CV Out
White and Green for Multiples
Grey for Clocks
Black for either In
White for either Out
So it's easy to look at an overall 'patch' and immediately figure out what can go where.
No - I will admit - it's not the best looking modular synth in the world, but I'm happy with it as I learn more in working with wood and as the modular continues to grow.
