I played with the BD909 for about half hour and came away thinking it was something I needed. Same with all of the Tiptop modules!
i'm also selling my BD808, used twice.
I dont think its a bad module, just that it doesnt sound like a real 909, it's not giving me anything i havent already got, so i dont think its worth me keeping it.
edit.
final thoughts on why it sounds different and not as punchy ;
it seems that the tune control doesnt go as far as the real 909, full tune really has a big effect on the real 909, it really sounds thwacky, the BD909's tune attack and decay in comparison dont seem to do that much.
the attack sounds thinner than the real 909 which has a 'beady' quality which really gives it a hard edge.

i have a real TR909, and to be honest the mbase is better and way more flexible. you cant quite get the 909 sound exactly but it doesnt matter.
lets hope the modbase 09 is as good.

there's a few quirks that i spoke to Jurgen about, and he's going to upgrade the software, like volume needs to be CV controlled, for accents.
having realtime control of the main parameters is positively luxurious, if you need it phatter, just wack up the harmonics, which introduces odd number harmonics to the 'almost' sine oscillator, if you want it more punchy lengthen the gate a little, and it takes on a new character, this affects a number of different parameters at the same time.
i recorded a few tracks and found myself tweaking it all the way through, changing its character for different parts of the tune, whereas with my old mbase i would have left it alone doing its thing due to the annoyance of a digital encoder and menus.
one thing to watch for is the pitch of the main VCO starts to creep up when the tune pot (initial pitch modulation) goes beyond 80 on the readout, so if like me you're particular about the pitch of your kick being in tune with your other elements of the track, you have to be carefull about how much you alter the tune control during a recording, a big change and it will drift out of tune. The secret there is to save 3 or 4 patches with different tune and pitch pot positions but tuned to the frequency you want.
i could write pages about it, i love it, absolutely worth every penny if you're a techno geek, its totally transformed my live tweaking..
no english manual yet though, but its not that difficult to work out.
