Ich war jetzt bei JustMusic und hab jetzt beide angespielt. Hier meine Eindrücke (in Englisch, da ich meinem Bandkollegen das Ganze auch berichten wollte).:
First I tested the LP for about half an hour over headphones...it´s in reality much smaller than you expect, but nice. The interface with the few knobs and all the buttons is not as
annoying as i expect it to be. You get used to that pretty quickly. The whole synth is really simple designed. What irritated me a bit is that you can´t see the value of your knob turn in the LCD, just like on the Voyager (or my NL3...). The hardware feels good and looks better reality too. I would say it´s even a bit sexy looking. Axel Hartmann did a great job again there.
Well...the sound...Yeup! Its definately a Moog! And it really can get really dirty with the OD button. In no time you can dial up a fat little distorted bass patch. Fun! The little sexy bugger creates a lot of pressure and i can imagine for someone who has always used only VAs and/or softsynths, this must be an ear-opener. Fat, warm, ballsy, analog. Great sounding instrument. Excellent for Bass and Lead sounds.
But i have to say...the synthesis engine is very limited also. That for sure is great for some people who don´t need more, but for me...i missed a few features. Especially after i played the Voyager afterwards, i realized that the LP is really limited. But that´s ok! If there would be no other choice, i would take the LP home for Bass and Lead sounds.
Now...the Voyager...i played an hour with it...over the same headphones. Built quality is better, i would say excellent. The knobs feel more sturdy than on the LP, and the whole interface is more complicated but also offers much more knobs, which makes it easier also. I wasn´t able to find out how to switch between the different banks of presets, but all in all the usage of the digital part was ok. What confused me was the modulation busses and the assign of the LFO. I have to study the manual more. I actually like the interface much better than the last time i tested it.
The sound...whoooohoooo...HolyMoogyfoogy!... thicker and wider than the LP. The filterspacing does work miracles on sounds, but also the third oscillator makes a big difference.
The Voyager is to my ears warmer and fatter than the LP. I tweaked the heck out of a few patches and came up within a few knob twists with very unusual and fat bass sounds, kickdrums, drones. The synthesis engine is more complex and i do understand that it may be too much for some people, but i think by learning the instrument with the help from the manual, it´s very easy to handle. A fantastic synth!
In comparison with my M3X i have to say...the M3X can do different sounds, that the Voyager i think might not be able to do, but that actually doesn´t bother me. I do have the NL3 and that Cameleon 5000 for everything else, that probably is also covered by the M3X....And for most of all, the Voyager is much fatter sounding. Oh...and about that OD button...you won´t miss it on the Voyager. I didn´t, since the Voyager can naturally overdrive in a very smooth fattening way. More bottom than the LP. And thicker. More pressure. Fun to play, fun to use.
That´s the synth for me to get.
M3X plus MPC1000 anyone?
Ich möchte noch hinzufügen... LP und Voyager klingen im Original 1000 mal besser als jedes Demos was man im Netz runterladen kann.
