Impulse

a very short blip of a signal, just very very short - the signal itself can be/is usually noise or any basic waveform, it can be used as a trigger for a resonator to get a physical modeling or karplus strong string simulation. New reverb generation uses impulses to sample the impulse response and with this the nature of the room it was played and recorded in to get a realistic hall/reverb.
