Low Fidelity, almost reduced in sound quality, mostly by adding scratches or distortion but most common reducing the resolution of the digital audio signal by sample rate (in kilo Hertz) or resolution (in bit)
normal: 16 Bit, 44 kHz, bit crunched to under 10kHz and less, or below 12 Bit, makes it more edgy, gritty and more 8Bit-80's Homecomputer like - The Chiptuners love it! of course there's also higher rates up to 32 Bit float point (to date) and up to 192kHz but nobody would consider to call it Low Fidelity above the mentioned CD basic frequency and sample rate resolution.
