Where to start as a DIY beginner? Wo sollte man anfangen?

At first please think about the following points / was zu bedenken ist:
- DIY is a lot of work which takes a lot of time! - Selbstbau braucht Zeit und Geduld!
- Don't start if you just want to clone something and build it cheaper! - NIcht zu empfehlen ist DIY als "billiger herstell" Chance, es gehört meist zu den Illusionen / besonders am Anfang. That's mostly an illusion!

So where to start? / Wo nun anfangen?

Tools:
- Don't use a cheap soldering iron (better use one from Weller, Ersa, ...)! - BITTE keinen Billiglötkolben, lieber wirklich eine Weller Lötstation besorgen oder sowas (Ersa etc), keine Bratröhren!

Sequenzer ist extra, ich denke nicht dass wir das hardwaremäßig fest verkoppeln. Einen hardwareSequenzer (wie den eti) wollen eh viele haben.
Dann kann man ja noch einen normalen(billigeren) step an/aus-Sequenzer machen ohne potis, das wäre dann angebracht für die drums.

Zwar keine Schaltpläne,
hier geht's mal um Gehäuse.

Der folgende Link wurde in der Lotstelle303 gepostet:

Die können komplette Gehäuse machen.

Serien sind natürlich billiger, muss jeder selber wissen, ob
er sich sowas leisten will/kann.

Muss man natürlich auch erstmal entwerfen.

May i suggest the CORON DS7 or DS8 clones as showed here :

They are small drum synths with large sonic possibilities and a fat and warm analog sound . It will be hard to design a more simple synth !

They can be controled by any analog Sequencers, MIDI CV/gate interfaces or simply bit hitting the box ( with a piezzo cell inside )

They are low cost devices made of very classic parts so there is really no risk. Assemble them do not require special electronic skills and tools.

Compared to the vintages DS7/8 actual prices on Ebay ( for example) , it is a real bargain to DIY them ! Also you can design the front panel as you feel ( see examples at the end of the DS7 pages) Modify them as you feel, it is quite easy to add more features ( filters,disto boxes... etc...)

You can also combine many of them to build an amazing and unique analog drumbox perfect for most of techno/electro music styles...

Well for a beginner this is probably one of the best solution to get a first positive experience with the synthDIY world, and to learn basis before to try more advanced/complex designs without risk...

I do also recommend to buy a good book about soldering and electronics,
especially if no "expert" lives near to you. ;-)

Best is to start with soldering some wires or cables together
or something very simple like a "multivibrator" on a breadboard.

With this you get some experience before you solder "real" PCB's.

It is very easy and you can control the function via two LEDs,
so if they blink alternating you got it right.
