Kam gerade von Ken MacBeth über die Livewire Mailing List:
Hi All, I’m sorry that I have to convey the following:
>From my home in Edinburgh, Scotland, I spoke with Mike Brown in California.
Mike asked me to put some words together on his behalf to explain the position and predicament he is in.
I have been good friends with Mike for some 2-3 years or so and we have shared good communications and plenty of laughs- we have been over there and he has been over here. Mike, as you all know, is an ardent enthusiast of analogue synths and the designer of the Livewire range.
Getting to the point- Mike is currently in hospital. For some time, he has been complaining of feeling sick and physically ill. In the very recent times- he has found it impossible to do his work effectively. Sensing something very wrong- he had a medical that included a barium meal to determine radioactively what may be the unseen cause of the problem. Shortly after he had the Barium meal- the medics decided that he required an immediate operation to examine/remove what appears to a growth. Doctors, upon examination, decided that full surgery of this growth was not an option- so Mike now finds himself facing some time of chemo/radio therapy to bring the growth down.
This all sounds pretty bad. He will certainly be incapacitated for the near future as he goes through this process. Currently, I am advised that his good friend Steve R and others who worked with Mike on previous Livewire gear, are already making the necessary steps to finalise the production of the AFG modules that you are all waiting on. What this means is that those who have ordered this stuff may have to patient for a little while as they get the works happening.
Let’s all wish Mike the best throughout this time- and wish those that are working on your AFGs the best- these guys are knowledgeable and reliable- so give them time. It looks like people working on the stuff will come together around July the 20th ‘08.
Kind Regards, Ken MacBeth.
