you do know it – I am a fan of Aalto, and they or Randy makes an new Aalto influenced plugin which is not the same but a new concept which will base on grains and granular synthesis and it has physical modeling in it.. aaaand – it can access and play samples – well it’s playing it granularly. here’s a little preview since it’s not yet out – but you can get Aalto for $49 these days for a limited time period. very interested in checking it out ..

yxou do know, that I am a big fan of Aalto, the Software synth – this controller is not new to those, who have been following my posts on Madrona. A different approach to the Haken Audio thing or the Linnstrument – and other Controllers that simply try to add more pitch control or at least more or different touch/control in general.. they have a new software out – still in search for no-keyboard-keyboard? get your ass on the Madrona site..

Madrona Labs.has put some images up, the Aalto is one of my fav’ed softsynth concepts (ok, I’d like 1-2 more LFOs/loopable ENVs) but it’s not all said – but here’s a nice shot – I did not recognize too many new things but as always it’s about details – it’s been said that MIDI and sizes have improved, there’s more to come, .. this one looks lighter… I’d love a nice iOS version of this synth.. here are some quotes, .. -> a random button for the sequener, -> inlets…

This one reminds a lot of Buchla 200e’ish sound design. in fact it has a main OSC modulated by another „Mod OSC“ plus Waveshaping which isn’t a bad idea, still. They say they did it for expressiveness – true, tho‘ – so.. and here’s the link to them – and the SynthDB entry about Aalto says.. to me very usable at the smallest possible component number at maximum output and efford to get interesting sounds as fast as you can beside a very classic structure of a – say – Nord Lead…
