means: the current 2 designs (this one shown here on the site and the one shown on sweetwater site and the recent issue of keyboards,germany are also „pre-version“.. now no more changes ;) maybe a g3 next time.. ;)

features in deutsch:
1) der g2 kann audio zu einem anderen slot „pipen“!!
2) die audio range wurde erhöht (filter 20khz statt 15.6k)
3) es gibt eine expansion
4) er wird vermutlich so ähnlich bleiben,wie in der letzten keyboards zu sehen war.. letzte keyboards und bild bei sweetwater (oben) zeigen den vermutlich finalen G2
5) offenbar klingt die fm ein bisschen anders.. vermutlich durch bessere andere algorithmen.
6) sequencer kann rückwärts laufen
7) speed: etwa 170-180% eines normalen NM
8) Neuigkeiten zu den OSCS: sie dienen nebenbei als eine art waveshping/spectralOSC / wavetable-like :
wenn man die frequenz auf null setzt (jaja,das macht ansich keinen sinn) ,kann man mit dem FM input in 32stufen eine art wavetable abrufen.. dreht man die frequenz minimal auf,bekommt man ein softsync -artig klingendes etwas dazu..
ist ein spezielles feature,was einwenig versteckt ist,aber es ist da.. es geht noch mehr dererlei..
nur mal so,sagt keiner,er wurde nicht gewarnt.. damit sind fragen nach dem alten spectral osc wohl überflüssig.. das istbesser!!
9) module können ausgetauscht werden ,also ein OSC durch einen anderen ohne „abkabeln“.. sehr praktisch.. das verbinden der paramter mit den knöpfen ist inzwischen drag&drop.. daher schneller..
10) delays gehen bis 2.7s, reverb bis 12sec , es gibt auch teildelay.. das polar pan modul ist in der ersten version noch nicht dabei, ebenso die festfilterbank.. diese kann man aber aus einzelfiltern zusammenbauen.. es dürfte nichteinmal mehr DSP power kosten.. vermutlich kommt das aber noch.. kompatibel sind die pch2 files nicht mit den alten pch und eine os x version gibts nicht.. nur eine os x version für den alten modular, aber inoffiziell ;)
11)neue module ohne ende.. bzw. redesigned.. multiplexer, busse,um slotübergreifend informationen in einen anderen slot zu bringen
12)performance und arpeggiator: gibts es, eine perfo enthält 4 patches,die ja durchaus ein riesen selfplayer sein kann „noodle“ genannt.. bei 4 slots ist da ne menge machbar..

interesting new features:
1)audio can be transported/piped to another slot
2) audio range is higher now (filter 20khz instead of 15.6k)
3) there is an expansion
4) should look the way like on sweetwater / the german keyboards mag recent 2003 issue..
5) fm sound better and a bit different..
6) sequencer can run backwards now
7) not doubled but 170-180% speed..

dimensions: 68 cm wide by 35 cm depth by 11cm high

btw: did you see the changes? the newer g2 has some more buttons and the knobs on the reight moved to the upper left!! these pics are one of my pics I took at the musikmesse frankfurt early 2003. but the proto shown in german keyboards mag shows the above mentioned changes (and nicer colors: blue and cyan instead of grey scales.. anyway.. no real major changes.. there is an arp’er on board!!)

new things: there are midi modules that allow midi manipulations and changes (hello max/msp), the logic section grew,too (lots of logic switches n stuff), (from xor to counters and flipflops)..
the midi modules are also good for sending midi stuff to other gear!!
the OSCs got more „modular“.. you choose what you want.. if you want to PWM it,you can and it will
need dsp THEN!! .. so those modules are more „scaleable“.. claiva re-progged those OSCs to simply be able to have a simple OSC (incl waveshape like „pwm“ mod from triangle to saw , so this sounds a bit „like a filter“ – or better: triangle waveforms contain less high harmonics than saw waves.. so the mod of this symmetry will result in a simple „LPF nonresonant sweep“ within one OSC).. also new „the string osc“.. it’s a pm model that is possible because of the larger DSP ram! more pm models will be there.. so this is a basic optimized model for strings, comb filters, phasers,all pass filters and more „organic synthesizers“.. also: resonators and stuff.. surely they will be DSP optimized and will not „cost“ as much as patching a feedbacked delay ..
there are polar faders and pans for 4 channel sound mixing, new mixers (2-8 inputs , different variations, also with crossfade (8ins)..)
2.6 secs delay and more DSP ram – basics to have reverb,comb and physical modeling FX (per voice and once for the whole system)
24bit/96khz DA/AD / no mac editor! USB controlled.

well: the g2 has lots controls, that make another keyboard useless.. there are 8 morph groups, modwheel and pitchbending and 3 octave-keyboards (velo!) .. also you can reach 120 parameters uwing the keys and 8 led-knobs (means: hit 2 keys max to reach one of those paramteters).
imo it’s been expanded to make a real live modular instrument. also save 8 variations of any patch.. more ram for patches and arpeggiator. also think about sending sequences and use TR-like step sequencing using the LED knobs and buttons!

the voices question: the new g2 has 32-128 voices – depends on complexity. so a „nordlead“-type of patch complexity results in 8 voices (within one slot!!) so you still got 3 more slots that still deliver 8voices here.. means: there are much more voices and complexity compared to the old expanded NM! (32 voices MAX TOTAL!!! finally I often got 10 voices using complex patches using 4 slots on the old.. seem like the g2 will more than double this..)

src: hans nordelius: we need to sell n.off to make an os x version!.. sad but true. anyway a very good machine. (the editor ran on xp)
control the sequencers by STEP switches AND knobs, like other „TR-like“ sequencers..
the opened G2

the „OSC“ and „Filter“ etc.. on the g2s knobs are only for you to remember.. no need to assign oscs to osc pages etc..!! so: you got 8 knobs and hit ONE KEY to select the next 8 eg for 16 step sequencer.

you can still chain them.. (64 or more steps.. then 4 pages needed for control!! liveable!!)

deutsch:die anwahl der „seiten“ ist mit den untenstehenden tastern realisiert..(die beschriftung OSC,filter, etc.. istn ur zur orientierung.. kann also auch seq1,2,3 sein)
imo kann man damit recht gut leben zumal man auch steps setzen und löschen kann bei sequencerlinien.. dennoch hätt ich 16 übersichtlicher gefunden,grade bei sequencen..
ich finde es aber deutlich aufgewertet im vergleich zum alten,wo dies ja SO garnicht ging und man nun einen beliebig langen sequencerverlauf nutzen KANN!!..
wer das zuwenig findet, kann das ja mit einer knopfbox erweitern,da ja alles CCs sind!..
und DAS ist ein hammer.. und somit ist der g2 auch ein spannendes livetool..
